　デンゼル・ワシントンって良く出ているなぁ。しかも、節操なしにどんなくだらない作品にも出演。きっとお金が一杯貯まっているだろう。
　今回は“The Walker”という映画。第3次世界大戦後、荒廃したアメリカに西に向けてひたすら歩く男。水やガソリンが貴重品になっていて、そこらじゅう無法地帯。似たような映画では、「マッドマックス」が同様。ただ、あちらは車に乗った男たちの戦い。こちらはひたすら歩く。その背中のリュックには、1冊の本が入っている。原題が“The Book Of Eli”といい、主人公イーライが持つ本のこと。ネタばれで言うと、これは世の中に唯一残った聖書で、これを奪い合う話。最後は悪人に渡ってしまうが、本が点字で書いてあって読めない。そもそも、点字で書かれているのかどうか、はっきりしないが、とにかく傷を負い手ぶらでサンフランシスコに着いた主人公。しかし、聖書の一字一句を暗記していて、それを口述筆記させる。強靭な精神力と義務感から、すべてを聖書を後世に残すことに賭ける男。
　それだけの話だけれど、お金をかけたセットで迫力あるシーンが次々に現れる。最後まで、ジェットコースタームービーのように見てしまったが、「なーんだ、損した」と思う映画。ワシントンくん、こんな映画に出ている場合じゃないだろう。人生は意外に短いよ。
